Write a short (5ish) sentence response to the section we read in class today. I think this quote is a pretty interesting place to think about:
"The jurors laughed. They were a mob. Hands grabbed at the mike. Kevin looked anxiously at me. I could do nothing. With all the buttons and switches at my command, I was helpless to change anything on the other side of the glass.
'I got a simple question for you. What's the matter with you? Huh? Huh?'
'Why can't you be normal?'"

I thought this section was kinda interesting. The author surprised me, I thought they were going to just ask some weird questions. Then it just gets out of control. I wonder what Stargirl was thinking when all this happened. I think Stargirl is going to be completely shunned at school and she won't be all happy and cheerful as she was at the beggining of the year.
ReplyDeleteThis part was very exciting and it wasn't expected for I thought the question was going to be somthing different then getting all up in her face. I also was wondering what Stargirl was thinking when this all happened. People have just given her a hard time at school. First they think she is very weird, then they think she is the next new thing, and now they think she is weird and hates her again.
ReplyDeleteI thought that this section was not that interesting. I think that Star Girl will not behave like herself again, because the audience where asking terrible things to her. I wonder what was star girl thinking? Was she going to cry? Will she leave Mica High, and why was Leo feeling bad for, did he like her? I mean she was popular, and now she is no-one.
ReplyDeleteI thought that wat we read yesterday was a good part.I was kind of confused when she kept staring at the camera and not talking. Then when Hillary was getting in her face, I thought that was pretty mean. I wonder if she'll ever go on the hot seat again? I thought Hillary was starting to like her because she was on the cheer leading squad and everyone liked her, so I thought that she was starting to like her as a friend.
ReplyDeletei think that putting star girl on the hot seat was a bad idea. I think that because not everyone likes her and hilery was there and she hates her. When all the people start asken her questions she doesnt fell good and it was just a bad thing to do.

ReplyDeleteIt was a very exciting section and i was not expecting it. They should of never put stargirl on the hot seat. Now I dont see stargirl being as cheerful and happy as she was before this incident.
ReplyDeleteInteresting comments, folks. Do you think Leo is resposible for this situation? Should he have stopped the Hot Seat from happening? I, too, think this might change Stargirl and how she acts. I mean, everyone has a breaking point. (It's been long enough since I read the book the first time that I can't remember, which makes it exciting!)
ReplyDeleteI really disliked how the audience was being crude. Yeah so what she cheers for the other team. Good sportsmanship. May be uncalled for but she can do what she wants. The pledge.....come on everyone else has done worse than Stargirl. They need to cut her some slack and put on some big boy pants. They are just jealous because she's getting attention.

I thought it was going to be a great show of The Hot Seat, but it ended bad. Come to think about it, it was a terrible idea. Why would they let all of Hillary's friends in the jury? No one thought that would go bad?

ReplyDeleteI tought that it was going to be the best show they had. When I found out that it was the wrost it was a shock. I think if they would have done the show earlyer when everyone wanted to know who Star Girl was it would have turned out great. I guess they wait till most people were tired of her. I think that they should have ended the show before it even got to the point were people were making fun of her. I want to know how Star Girl feels.

If i were in star girls position I do not know what I would do. Im sure I would be imbarressed and would not know what to say to them. I dont get why they made fun of her for cheering for the other team..
ReplyDeleteI flet this secton was downright horrifying i felt for stargirl i have nightmares from the things she said it is hard to move on from such a difficult period of life. Me and stargirl have are own crying sessions to gether.

ReplyDeleteI thought that this was going to be a great hot seat episode. When they started making fun of het i didnt know what to thin. I thought it was mean of them and stargirl deserves better.
ReplyDeleteI don't think this will affect Stargirl that much. I see her as a person who wouldn't care what everyone thought of her, even if they told her they thought she should be 'normal.' It might being her down for a little bit, but I think she'll just stay low for a few days, then be back to her not normal self. =]

I think that what they said to her wont bother her. I don't think that stargirl really even cares to what they have to say about her or to her. She isn't normal but that is just how she is.
