Now that we're a little further in the book, I'd like you to choose another question to respond to. This time, in your response, please write 3-5 sentences, and spend a little more time on it. What I mean by that is pretend it's being graded for spelling, capitalization, etc. It's easy when we're online to not use standard English, but for classroom blog posts, I'd like you to focus on it. It's important to know what it's okay to not capitalize and when it isn't. For example, I don't capitalized anything in my personal emails to my friends. But I would never send an email to our principal without checking my capitalization. I want you to start being aware of your choices online.
Now, for the questions:
1. What do you think of Leo's choice to follow Stargirl? What does it make you think about him?
2. What do you think will happen next? Jerry Spinelli left us with sort of an ominous statement at the end of the chapter: "How could I have known that he would soon be challenged by a freckle-nosed homeschooler?"
3. Think again about Peet compared to Mica High. When Hillari Kimble and Wayne Parr are described, do you think of any similarities? Please don't name names, but feel free to comment on if you think there are similar leaders at Peet.

i think it makes him just as wierd as her. why would you want to follow someone around..like stalk them?

ReplyDeleteI think that Leo just wanted to see what Stargirl was like, where she was going, and what she was going to do. I don't think that he wanted to be a "stalker" he just wanted to check what she was doing making she wasn't doing anything weird.

I also think that because he learned somthing about her that day and he decided to leave her alone about putting her in the "The Hot Seat". And that just because shes diffrent doesnt mean that they need to bother her about it and put her into a diffrent class of people.

ReplyDeleteI think that it was wrong for Leo to follow her because it could be an invasion of Stargirl's person pravicy. I feel people don't need to know what other people do ouside of school unless they share. He was acting almost like a stalker.

ReplyDeleteClearly Leo wants to know more about Stargirl, probably for the Hot Seat is my first guess. I guess it was okay to follow her. It might be thought of as stalker-ish but it's not. If you wanted to know more about a person, why wouldn't you check occasionally to see what they do in public or sometimes alone? Especially if you're 'too afraid' to talk to them?

ReplyDeleteThanks, everyone, for your comments. For some reason it doesn't creep me out that much that Leo followed Stargirl. I guess I just get a good vibe from him. I'm also interested in what Hillari Kimble will do next, and if Stargirl will care. I'm glad to see that so many of you think that Mica is different than Peet. My junior high experience was a lot like Mica High, except we had more school spirit. People were still pretty wary of anything that was a little bit different.
